Jurors also say that Edward lord Denny, now Earl of Norwich being seised in fee of the site of the manor of Meriden alias Mournden & land, meadow, pasture &c thereto belonging in Watford, Aldenham & S' Stephens & a certain portion of tithes of ha-in same places, by indenture dated 1 May 5 Jas. sold sd premises to sJ Thos. Ewer to hold for life with remainder to John Warner senr for life, remainder to David Ewer son of sd Thos. & the heirs of his body & in defaidt to the right heirs of sd Thos. for ever. Afterwards for better assurance sd Edw. Lord Denny & Mary his wife levied a fine etc.; in virtue whereof ed Thos. Ewer was seised of the premises so conveyed & limited. John Warner died during lifetime of sd Thomas & Anne late wife of sa Thomas survives. Thos. Ewer was also seised in fee of 9 acr. meadow in Bushey ineade in the parishes of Bushey & Watford & a water mill called Atterspole mill & 6 acr. meadow belonging in Aldenham & so seised mado his last will dat. 31 Aug. 3 Car. & left sd premises last mentioned to Mary Ewer his grandchild, dau. of s'1 Henry Ewer. Thomas Ewer died 29 Sept. last past & Henry Ewer is his son & heir apparent & at the death of sd Thomas was aged 30 years & more. The messuage &c called Bushy Warren is held of the king in chief by knights service & is worth per aim. clear 6/.
